We Are CIAC

What is CIAC?

The California Intersegmental Articulation Council (CIAC) is a professional organization convened by articulation officers in the 1990’s in response to the growing population of transfer students between California’s four segments of higher education as defined by the Donahoe Higher Education Act of 1960, also known as California’s Master Plan of Education.

CIAC Membership

CIAC membership includes articulation officers and other articulation-adjacent personnel, and key players that support articulation. CIAC provides a forum and community for articulation-involved personnel to get updates from all of California’s segments of higher education, process training, best practices, and a welcoming space for collaboration across the segments to tackle pressing questions and challenges surrounding student transfer success.

Additionally, CIAC provides a setting for articulation officers to mentor each other, and exchange understanding and insight to sharpen advocacy surrounding real technicalities and obstacles that impede or hinder student transfer.

CIAC is organized into northern and southern divisions, as well as 10 state regions. Membership is by institution or other articulation-related affiliation. CIAC members do not speak for their organizations, but use the resources provided in CIAC to benefit their institutions and their students.
